You'd think that with the great flowering on the right wing of American politics the last couple of years, nurtured and fed in the rich, fecund intellectual soil the Bush administration tilled for all those years, that we would see some progress and improvement in the sophistication of their pedantic liberal parody children's books.
But alas, no.
David Hedrick's The Liberal Claus looks as stupid and unimaginative and histrionic and nonsensical as the standardbearer of the genre, Help, Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed. Even though the cover has a promising-looking Flash-style animation, the inside is nothing but feeble pencil drawings of Pelosi and Stalin elves.
I guess we'll all have to wait for the WonderTrig boardbook series which is set to launch in early 2012. WonderTrig vs The Panels of Death!
