Daddy Types is sad to relay news of the passing of Jan Berenstain, at the age of 88. Our thoughts are with her family, and we take comfort in knowing that Mrs Berenstain has joined her late husband Stan in a far better place. One that presumably doesn't have those damnably retrograde bears of theirs.

I remember them best for the "Loverboy" comic compilations that were on my parents' shelf. They were amazingly sexist, reflecting the early 60s in a most fascinating way.
And their pre-Bears parenting illustrations and books from the 50s can be really great, too.
