In the time it takes you and the kid to build the LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, Volkswagen itself will have built, announced, and killed another Microbus concept. Tuck that away in your brick-loving head.
Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, $119.99 "Limit 5 per customer" [shop.lego.com via geekdad, who has the build, thanks dt microbus correspondent jjdaddy-o]
Complete typesploitation by Amazon merchant: LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220, $199.99 [amazon]
1) I think VW should work on it's repair record instead of developing then killing off concepts
2) Fantastic lego set!
3) WTF is up with the merchants on amazon? I've been watching this for years now and can't for the life of me figure out HOW these rip-off artists make sales.
It looks great, the classic camper van in Lego.
A couple observations:
1) No sliding doors. That hippie van sure was manly.
2) Seems to be made entirely from the Lego parts bin. This is a good thing as so many Lego sets that we receive as gifts are made up of custom parts that go together one way only.
3) #2 is essentially the same strategy VW has used with it current van, the Routan, which is made almost entirely from the Chrysler/Dodge parts bin.
Very cool. Now where can I find tiny bumper stickers?
