Good grief, I have no idea WTF this is, but I have some theories, each more painful than the last:
1) what The Daily Show staff does while Jon Stewart takes the kids to Disney World.
2) a cruel hoax perpetrated against faithful Paul Rudd fans who only want to see him recapture the magic of Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet and Red Hot American Summer.
3) a #$(*%)(ing hipster stunt to trick gullibles into watching a #$)(*%ing hipster band music video.

Aw, come on, it's not Naysayer Monday again already, is it? Is not so bad, DT. Most of the members of New Pornographers are in advance states of their forties. It's probably safe to assume that some of them are parents, or anyway, making those guys rep the hipster brigade is at least kind of a stretch. This isn't like a BRMC leather romp or anything. Anyway, indiscriminate, face-pounding cynicism is THE reigning (and most insidious) characteristic of your typical youth-hipster, and you are all over that with this one. Nay to that!

uh-uh, the thing is, the too-stupid-by-half synopsis still could have been a movie Paul Rudd would have foolishly made.
But the trailer was so sloppily executed, the whole thing just fell apart before the dorkband made their first appearance. And by then it's just a cheap Foo Fighters knockoff video. As 40-somethings, they should know better.
Ow, that's the most critical review I've read for a movie-esque music video since Ebert trashed Transformers 2.
Maybe I'm just sensitive because I know one of the guys in the band... (and he's definitely a dad, his second was just born a few weeks ago, so Courtney's analysis got that right).
