What really gives me great joy is there is a young toddler, who saw me on television in Tyra Banks' "America's Next Top Model." When he comes in on a Saturday morning for breakfast, he always says "Hi André!"-Vogue's André Leon Talley discussing how awesome his local breakfast joint in White Plains is.
My kids have been in the SCAD Fashion show for the last 5-6 years or so, and they get to hobnob with André and Tom Ford and the like, but their favorite part is when they get runway instruction from Miss Jay Alexander, a 6-foot-plus black man in a do-rag and platform heels.
