Though singing too much Chumbawumba back in the day probably set back my chances for actually getting someone knocked up by several years, now that I have--and now that They Might Be Giants has covered that damn song as part of the AV Club's frappuccino festival or whatever--I'll just be singing it every. Single. Day from here on out.
I GET KNOCKED DOWN!
AND I GET UP AGAIN!
RRR RRRR GONNA GET ME DOWN!
I GET KNOCKED DOWN!
AND I GET UP AGAIN!
SOMETHING NEVER GET ME DOWN!
They Might Be Giants covers Chumbawamba [avclub.com, thanks publicists!]
I wonder what Chumbawamba would think of their song being used for improving the image of a company such as Starbuck's. I remember when they licensed it for a GM adverstising and, at the same time, gave the benefits for an enviromentalist anti-GM campaign... http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=1648
I liked that song when it came out and loved the video but I was so much more into They Might Be Giants back in the day. What a fun little performance. I miss when TMBG used to have that call in number that you could call and hear a new song every day for free.
The chorus goes:
I GET KNOCKED DOWN, BUT I GET UP AGAIN
YOU'RE NEVER GONNA KEEP ME DOWN
I GET KNOCKED DOWN, BUT I GET UP AGAIN
YOU'RE NEVER GONNA KEEP ME DOWN
The melody at the beginning on the original, repeated at the end is:
We'll be singing/when we're winning
We'll be singing
