Wait, yeah, yeah, Adam Mansbach, author of Go The F*%$ To Sleep. But why did I not recognize that the illustrator Ricardo Cortes is the Ricardo Cortes, creator of the kindergarten-narc-thwarting classic, It's Just A Plant?
I mean, holy smokes, people, It's Just A Plant! It's like the Goodnight Moon of the It's Just A genre.
I'd say I'm the big bloggin' man, need the info. But truth be told, 1) I'm not that big, and 2) in the last few days, I've had the info, thanks to an easy half dozen people who forwarded a complete scan of Mansbach and Cortes's book.
And I must say, from the title, it really could have been a dumbass, Vice/Funny-or-Die/The Hangover-style bro stunt. But it's just the opposite: it is both smartly felt and well done, an authentically funny juxtaposition of idyllic bedtime rhymes and exhausted, uneasy parenting.
