Alright, Melody and Rahm, you are the fifth and sixth White House-related celebrities to read books to large groups of children [the other four being former Utah governor and HHS secretary Mike Leavitt and his wife, and two guys from DC United, so I guess we're stretching the definition of the term "celebrity" here a bit thin.]
And you're all making the same mistakes. Here's what you have to do:
- Don't get all meta. Save your commentary for the DVD bonus track.
- It's a picture book. Show the kids the pictures. On every page. Turn the book all the way around, slow pan from one side of the audience to the other.
- This means you'll have to either read the spread before you show it, or you'll have to quickly memorize the page text, and recite it while you're panning.
- So yeah, you should probably familiarize yourself with the book before you perform it. Read it in the car. Read it in the green room. Read it in the ten minutes before you get on stage. Read it the day before, who cares? Just read it.
- Also, Rahm, did anyone notice when they chose that book for you that that Duck for President has the same campaign-quit-campaign strategy as Sarah Palin?
Also, nice stroller placement there.
