Actually, That Does Look Like A Nissan GT-R We've Ever Seen

Edmunds may not have gotten the scoop on this sweet custom Kids Heart Nissan GT-R Wagon--which, in fact, we have seen, at a car club show in Nagoya--but they do move the story forward a bit.

When Auto Fiends reported on the Stagea-based one-off last March, they were diplomatically vague about the mechanicals: "while there are no solid specs on what's under the hood, the car comes with a legendary VQ 3.5 V6 as stock..."

Mhmm. Which, as Edmunds points out, means RWD, not AWD, which had the VQ25DET engine. Edmunds tries to help Kids Heart save face, too, by saying the tuners "look forward to replacing its prosaic Nissan VQ35 V6 with a turbocharged RB26DETT inline-6 from the previous-generation GT-R R34."

Which means this is really just a $10,000 2009 GT-R nose job--using a mix of factory and custom fabricated parts--on a stock Stagea wagon. Which is about the best you can hope for, since Nissan discontinued the platform-sharing wagons in 2007, and the hand-built, 480-hp, twin turbo, 3.8L VR38DETT V-6 in the 2009 Skyline GT-R is not exactly available wholesale. But still.

Making me second guess my Audi S4 Avant purchase :) If only it were real.
