Gitmo Playground By Christopher Sims

sims_gitmo_junglegym.jpg

Artist Christopher Sims spent three years gaining approval to visit the US military base at Guantanamo Bay. His photographs documenting the sites of daily life--the video games, the barbecues, the McDonald's, the playground--will be exhibited at Civilian Art Projects in Washington, DC beginning this Friday.

Since it appears to no longer be in active use, I will be watching the military surplus auctions for this geodesic jungle gym. Can you imagine how hardcore that'd be, playground equipment from Fidel's backyard?

I sure wonder... was this play equipment for the children of US service members or for the child detainees?

a powerful collection silently speaking volumes! Would like to see the entire collection. Your artisty continues to inspire me, Chris!
Keep getting the message out! Lori

I have to wonder why it is placed over a crevasse.
