Holy Crap, Our Book Is #652 On Amazon, And We're Having A Signing Tonight

things_i_learned.jpg

I was up too late watching the primary returns, so I couldn't go stand outside the Today Show this morning while Heather talks about our book, Things I Learned About My Dad (in therapy). But I think I'll be joining Heather, Doug French [Laid-off Dad], Sarah Brown, and Alice Bradley [Finslippy] at the book signing/hangout tonight. [update: well, a scheduling miscommunication with the sitter and a playdate threw me off. I'm still in DC with no time to make it up tonight. Have a pint of Arrogant Bastard for me. And tell Doug he can sign my name, but only to the books.]

It starts at 5:30 at Soda Bar in Prospect Heights,
629 Vanderbilt Ave., near St. Marks [google map]

If you're the type who likes to see a book in person before you buy it, you should come on by. Whatever illusory euphoria-by-association came from seeing Things I Learned debut so high on Amazon has been immediately deflated every time I walk into a store to ask for the book. The dude at one Barnes & Noble couldn't even find it in the computer last week. So maybe Amazon's the only place you can actually buy it, who knows?

Hmm, the reviews on Amazon are a bell curve distribution; if there's a critical trend, it's that the essays mostly sound like they were written by bloggers. Though there's also a comparison to high school, and one to an elementary school project. So yeah. I hear Soda Bar has Arrogant Bastard Ale!

I've been purposely holding back my better blog posts, saving them for a book deal. No way I'm giving my readers something good for free!

Seriously, though, congrats... although, I hate to admit it, I'll probably (when it is available at B&N) just go to the bookstore, read your essay, and put it back on the shelf... sorry, man.

Hey, I ordered the book from B&N online over the weekend and UPS dropped it on my porch yesterday, no problems. Just got thru reading "Failure" hence this, my first visit to your site. Kudos to all of you.
