Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day Of Play Is Tomorrow From Noon Till Three. Seriously.

Did you know it was Go Healthy Month? Yeah, me neither:

Go Healthy Month will culminate with Nickelodeon’s 4th annual Worldwide Day of Play on September 29th when the Alliance and Nickelodeon are encouraging kids and families across the country to get up, get out and go play! On Worldwide Day of Play, Nickelodeon, along with its sister digital networks including Nicktoons Network, Noggin and Nick G.A.S. will go off the air for from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. This year marks the first time ever that all four Nickelodeon sister networks will go dark, along with Nick.com, to urge kids to participate in the fight against childhood obesity.
Yes, celebrate the Worldwide Day of Play by turning the TV off for the last three hours of Go Healthy Month.

This message has been brought to you by Nickelodeon. And the makers of Halo3, who can't help but notice that under-utilized TV sitting there...

Or "was," anyway: September Is Go Healthy Month! [healthiergeneration.org via dt reader ponch]

I am seriously pissed. Punish all kids because some are fat??? This reminds me of college when Cesar Chavez came to speak. Then the cafeteria stopped serving grapes. It doesn't change anything- its stupid! I really missed those grapes.

[Si! Si puede comer los grapes! -ed.]

Punishment? You've got to be kidding.

I think this is making a good point that families should play together, not sit in front of the television on the weekends -- or worse yet, that the kids sit in front of the television and the parents go and do their own thing, too.

If some family is so wedded to the TV, they can watch another channel or put on a video.

I just changed the channel to one of the other 18 kids channels on my cable line-up.

Three hours? I thought they were going to go off all day!

Sheesh. Not very impressed with corporate responsibility today, but what else is new?

Dd.

haha i remember this they actually showed a blank screen and suggested we go outside haha good times and i think i actually did go outside...
