I had Godfrey Reggio's classic 1982 movie Koyaanisqatsi playing in the background while I was writing the other day--thank you, Philip Glass--and I looked up to see this scene of a dad playing Q*bert while holding his kid.
Of course, because it's Koyaanisqatsi, he was playing at 4x speed. And now at age 26, that kid is taking a break from his vinyl toy designing job to play Halo. Or maybe he's got the night shift at Carl's Jr. in Riverside. When they're this young, you really can't tell.
might as well get the Koyaanisqatsi/Powaqqatsi two-pack, it's only $6 more. [amazon]
Though frankly, by the time he broke out on his own with Baraka, Ron Fricke really had this speeded-up, cinematographic eye candy/poetry thing down cold.
Run, don't walk, to see "King of Kong: Fist full of Quarters". The story of a head-to-head Donkey Kong championship. Just flat out awesome, including the subplot of any 86 year old Q*bert contender. Good v. Evil at its Mario Bros best.
