Strollers In White Satin, Never Reaching The Minimum Bid

whoa_embellished_stroller.jpg

It's hard to have an auction when one of the most likely bidders was just buried in the Bahamas. Are you the other?

This "standard Evenflo" stroller has been customized "using creme satin and gold lame...but you can customize it any way you want!" The limits are only in your imagination.

New Custom Embellished stroller, ended Mar. 6, no takers at the opening bid of $550
. Yet. [ebay via dt reader sara]

Wow, just wow.

Wow, just wow.

Yuck, just yuck. It's a [faux] silk purse AND a sow's ear!

A number of these customized models have turned up on eBay recently -- every one of them built on the chassis of a stroller that wasn't worth 30 bucks to begin with, never mind the aesthetics problems, of which there have been many.

Hasn't anybody ever been tempted to rip the covers off a Bugaboo and go wild? Or even a Maclaren? Or that faithful workhorse, the Pliko? Oh, art, why hast thou forsaken us?

Well, I was going to re-do my Peg Perego Elegante in black velvet, but this woman has shown me that I need gold! and ruffles!!

Ugh,. Just ugh.

If only the irony wouldn't be lost on people I'd get it in a heartbeat. My son would be stylin' in that!
