Help The Police, Help, Help, Help The Police

Time was, having a kid meant you could only sing along to your gangsta rap when you were driving alone. But after seeing comedian Adam Buxton's real-time-edited rendition of NWA's "F**k the Police", I'd say the times are a'changing.

Your move, Neal Pollack.

"Help The Police" lyrics are transcribed below:

Adam Buxton's "Help The Police," from BBC3's Rush Hour:

Help the police commin' straight from the underground
A young chap's got it good 'cause I'm brown
And not the other color
Some police think
They have the authority to carry out inquiries
I don't mind, 'cause I ain't the one
For an excellent policeman with a badge and a gun
To be reasonably arrested and thrown in jail
We can go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
Havin' lots of fun 'cause I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin' my car, lookin' for the biscuits
Thinkin' every chap is sellin' bits of chocolate
You'd rather see me writing with a pen
Than me and Lorenzo rollin' in a Benz-o
Go swimming with Lorenzo
And when I'm finished, Bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the sack race
Thank you very much for the bread and water
I don't know if they are naughty or what
Search a chappy down and grabbin' his hat
And on the other hand
Without a hat, they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
'Cause they'll tickle you until you're giggling
Black police having fun with the white cop
Ice Cube will entertain
all the local bobbies in a blue uniform
Just 'cause I'm from the CPT
Nice police are nice to me, huh
A young man in a hot bath
And when I finish, it's gonna be a party
Of cops having fun in L.A.
Yo, Dre, I got something to say ...

Help the Police
Help help help the Police
Help help help the Police
Help help help the Police

Oh man, that was awesome.

That is hilarious. We tend to just keep the music on shuffle around our place, so I frequently find myself fast-forwarding past any of my old hip-hop for fear that my little guy will pick up certain words that I'd rather he didn't use.

Outstanding. We've had to set up various playlist rules to prevent little surprises like this. I'm glad that 3B won't be bustin' out the NWA . . . and others . . . in kindergarten, but it does suck a bit for us, since the tunes we have to rule out are some of our favorites. Ah well, it's all good if it's all for the kid.

That's great.

I have a friend whose 5 year old son's party piece is Tribute by Tenacious D. Credit to his parents though as the kid's not too keen on the rest of the album because it has "Too many swears".

I love how his son is totally non-plussed by this exemplary display of innovation. No matter how cool we try to be, our kids will find us all tragically unhip.

That is awesome! I wonder if there's a version out there for 50 Cents' song, something like "You can find me in the club, bottle full of milk on my knee, I got the mylicon if you're into having gas. . . "

I'm obviously not very good at this.
