We recently welcomed a baby girl into the world and we named her Eowyn (pronounced A-O-win). Most people seemed thrown when they ask her name, and then ask how we spell it. This is usually followed by an awkward "Oh". So we've found the general public is not sure how to respond to the unique names.
Overheard a mom calling to her 9-ish-yr-old daughter in a Berkeley shop the other day: "Hey, Denali, look at this!" I'm wondering if the kid has a brother named Yukon.
