I don't know at what age it's appropriate to start teaching your kid about verbs ["Verb! That's what's happening!"] or adverbs ["Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, get your adverbs here"], or whether it's right to even pretend that the legislative process as depicted in "I'm just a Bill" is how laws get made in these days of Jack Abramoff and The K Street Project.
But whatever, there are a decent number of Schoolhouse Rock clips on YouTube, which should provide a nice singing interlude with the kid for a few minutes, at least. I like her television in these manageable, bite-sized doses.

I purchased the set a few years ago before I even had a kid. And then I went and bought it for nieces, nephews and any other kids that would accept prezzies (which is a lot.) Thank god for SHR. I still count my fives 5! 10! 15! 20!
