Not for toddlers, but for infants: I've discovered that throat-singing (the Tibetan kind) is incredibly calming. She's wailing uncontrollably about whatever, but if I launch into it with her head near mine she goes silent instantly. Pretty sweet.

I'm not Tibetan...I just used to do it to bug my wife. Glad it serves other purposes as well
