I think I've solved the whole "handmade toys unfairly banned by unfairly monolithic CPSC lead regulations" problem: just charge a bunch of money for it. Then you can plausibly argue that the toy in question couldn't possibly be intended for kids because, seriously, CPSC, who would let his kid gnaw on a limited edition, handknit, alpaca pigeon sculpture? The thing cost sixty bucks!
On the other hand, what a reasonable price for such a fine piece of craftsmanship. Bravo, Project 8.
