Seekin' Hide: American Indian Doll & Cradle

nez_perce_toy_cradle_ha.jpg

Speaking of antique craft and materials, check out this Nez Perce toy cradleboard, c.1880, which is coming up for sale at Heritage Auctions on June 11. It's only 9.5 inches high, perfect for Indian kids' little beaded hide dolls. This particular one is from the Utes, a totally different tribe in a different part of the West. But the US was subjugating them both at the same time, so there's that.

55343: A NEZ PERCE CHILD'S TOY CRADLE. c. 1880, opening bid $1,000
