Add the awesomely named Ib Kofod-Larsen to my list of Danish Designers I Should Have But Never Have Heard Of. [I know who Ub Iwerks is, though; do I get half credit?]
Alls I know is, design guru Grace Bonney, the eyes and brains behind Design*Sponge, had been saving up to buy one of Kofod-Larsen's wrought iron, molded ply, and cushion rocking chairs, and now she got it. So it's apparently worth skipping a hundred coffees for, at least.
The design's from 1950, but you knew that just by looking. The Surfing Cowboys of Venice had another Kofod-Larsen rocker, a later model from 1955, with more cushions and a more traditionally Danish, sleek teak vibe to it. If I were rocking a crying kid to sleep, my gut--and back--would probably go with the Cowboys, but I've learned to trust Grace's instincts on stuff like this.
