Here's my review...
I'm surprised I haven't seen more Robert Munsch titles in the Bizarre Children's Book reviews. Mr. Munsch writes some seriously whacked-out stuff. We've all read "Love You Forever," have we not? And who hasn't been a little skeeved out about that mom climbing in the window of her adult son's bedroom?
But my favorite on the Bizarre-o-Meter (mostly because this is a book I really do enjoy reading to kids) is
Thomas' Snowsuit. The storyline is basically that Thomas doesn't want to wear his snowsuit (mostly because it's ugly and brown), and he's a bit of a pill about it. Along the way, people are picked up in one hand, there are a lot of enormous fights, and at one point Thomas and his teacher and principal all end up in their underwear. On the penultimate page, Thomas is seen walking off looking smug and *wearing the dang snowsuit*, a change of heart that is never explained, and then the principal moves to Arizona to avoid ever having to deal with another snowsuit fiasco. Michael Martchenko's illustrations are enormously silly, and the book is sure to generate fits of giggles from 4- and 5-year-olds. I would just try to avoid reading it during snowsuit season, unless you want to hear, "NNNNNO!"
