Here's how I see it: EUR1,000 is totally the wrong price for this bassinet.
If it's really carved from a giant tree trunk, I'd pay at least another 500 to have all that cartoony paint stripped off and have it returned to a beautiful (lined, of course) deep-grained sculpture.
If it's not an actual tree trunk, I'd just ask him to keep the bird and that weird canopy thing the Euros like so much, and knock EUR500 off the price.
