But it's upstairs. And no, the only elevator IS that tiny little piece of crap you blew by on the way in, so circle back and wait your turn. See, if were big enough to fit a stroller in, people might be tempted to put a shopping cart in it, too, and that just won't do. Also, Meg is right; there's more dumbfounded dawdling here than at any place south of a TRL broadcast....

A reader Angela reported that the women's rooms not only had changing tables, but that they were stocked with 7th Generation diapers. Well, the men's rooms ain't got nuthin', not on 2, not on 4....

I'm still working on this, but you get the idea. As the directory approaches 100 locations, some patterns have begun to emerge: 1) whether it nets out is another story, but the invasion of giant national retailers brought MRCT's to the city. National chain stores top the YES list [museums and new public parks accounted for almost all the rest.] 2) Except for Starbuck's. They may be contributing to the vaguely public restroom inventory, but I have yet to...

Apparently the bathroom's out of order altogether, and so a blogger circled the wagons while his sister changed her kid's diaper on the chair. Naturally, chaos ensued, at least online. POSTCARD FROM THE SLOPE_DIAPERING DUCKY [OTBKB via Curbed, whose commenters are on the hunt for Slope babies to throw into the coffee grinder]...

In the large men's room across from the theater in the Egyptian Wing (on the way to the Temple of Dendur). But NOT in the mezzanine men's room in the SE staircase, and NOT in the 2nd floor men's room at the junction of the 19th C./Rodin gallery and the 20th C. art gallery entrance....

The restaurant at MoMA has famously confusing-for-some* individual, unisex bathrooms surrounding a common sink-filled lobby. No counters anywhere at all; and only the large wheelchair-accessible bathrooms would have floorspace enough. *some who haven't been to Pastis, Europe, or a college dorm, apparently....

The 1st Floor restroom in the Rose Center/Hayden Planetarium is in the southwest corner, behind the elevators. On a side note, the signage in that museum is maddening, ridiculous. Veteran visitors thread their way through lost, baffled, shuffling newbies. My suggestion: get a membership as soon as actually useful signs and more than one hyper-congested stroller entrance are in place. Until then, "suggested entrance fee" means $1/head for us. [Believe me, though, they'll still make it up in volume.]...

The large public bathroom is near the entrance to the pier, but you also have about 20 acres of open lawn and/or astroturf, so why not just change the kid on your picnic blanket?...

There are a lot of high-backed sofas right outside the restaurant. Also, they don't have high chairs, and "not terribly many people" bring younger children, we were told, but if you call ahead, they could surely arrange something. [For the record, we didn't take the kid.]...

Apparently, it's the kind of place [*sniiiff*] that avoids any smooth, flat surfaces at all in the lower level bathrooms. But if the coat check isn't open, you could probably use that alcove/counter very easily. Bonus: the pool lounge bar chairs look like Nest high chairs for adults....

The restrooms are between the freezer and dairy sections, but they're in an employee-only zone. What that means: customers must have an employee escort, who'll cheerily wait outside the bathroom for you. No pressure....
