DON'T LEAVE YOUR KID IN THE BACK SEAT [WITH ONE OF THOSE KID-IN-THE-BACK-SEAT DETECTORS]

What with global warming and drought and derechos and whatnot, we're all pretty much doomed anyway, but SERIOUSLY, ESPECIALLY DURING THE SUMMER, PLEASE GET IN THE HABIT OF CHECKING THE BACK SEAT EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR SO YOU DON"T FORGET YOUR KID IN THE BACK SEAT, WHERE HE COULD GET HEAT STROKE AND DIE.

Also, says NHTSA, don't bother with the various back seat reminder solutions. They tested them, and they just don't work in the real world. And worse than that, their presence could lull you into complacency, where you forget TO CHECK THE BACK SEAT EVERY TIME YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR. SO DON'T USE THEM. JUST CHECK THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR EVERY TIME YOU GET OUT.
