Students from the Konstfack exhibited a "Garden Furniture" themed show at this year's Stockholm Furniture Fair. Which gives a bit of context for Worapong Manupipatpong's garden bench with roof and play loft, which he dubbed the White Tower. I dub it simple and awesome. The image above came from Architonic's SFF coverage, and Mocoloco has some nice closeup shots. Oddly, Manupipatpong's own portfolio has no mention of the White Tower, and Konstfack's site has no mention of the exhibit at all.
And in other exciting but unpronounceable design news from countries on or near the North Sea, Dutch scavenger designer Piet Hein Eek's entire oeuvre is now going to be available in the US. PHE's workshop/factory is being fronted here by Studio Forbes, the project shop set up by Design Within Reach founder-turned-free-agent Rob Forbes. Studio Forbes says they can "place orders for any products you see on Piet's Hein Eek's Dutch website," which means there's finally a way to buy all Piet's sweet childrens' furniture without checking it in your luggage.
Alas, these things take time, up to five months, in fact. "You cannot purchase Piet's products online the way you might buy books on Amazon." I assume 1-click ordering and free two-day delivery on elaborately fabricated Dutch scrapwood cribs and high chairs is Forbes's second project. [pietheineek.us via dt reader and SF publicist meghan]
