Muji Barcelona-In-A-Bag, Pavilion Included

muji_barcelona_bag.jpg

Alright, that's rather brilliant. The new addition this year to Muji's ______-in-a-Bag series of wooden toys is Barcelona.

And it includes a little wooden Mies Barcelona Pavilion, along with the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera apartments by Gaudi. The generic buildings on the left must be whatever Arata Isosaki built for the Olympics.

Barcelona in a Bag is probably not coming to a Muji near you, where it won't be 999 yen. [muji.net]

Personally, I think you can do a lot worse -- a LOT worse -- than Arata Isozaki.

Murakami (Takashi, not Haruki) at MOCA in L.A. A museum building designed by Mr. Isozaki.

[true, it's good, though small. the LACMA bldg's a mess, though. and he's ruining the Uffizi in Florence. -ed.]

I love those little cities. Muji's where I always end up for my last minute bits of Christmas shopping.
