Mah Na Mah Na: 2008 Volvo XC70 Drops Towel On Way Out Of Sauna

So over the weekend, DT reader Eric sends me a link to the just-revealed stats of the 2008 Volvo V70/XC70. Nice proportions and curves. Then this morning on Jalopnik, a whole gallery of XC70 photos was released in advance of the Geneva Auto Show--and it turns out she likes long trips in the woods! Alas, she won't be entering the exchange student program before the fall semester.

Any TDI option?

[in EU, at least, there are two, both 5-cylinder. -ed.]

Is the XC70 a "chick car?" When I mentioned interest, that's exactly what the wife called it.

Volvo, synonymous with luxury and soothe cruising. Volvo XC70 is everything, both bad and good. It has flawless safety yet some of its unique features seem like overkill. It’s cheaper compared to other luxury sedan models yet it has looks and performance that is conservative as its safety. The S80 is all about practicality.

I'm sure it has nothing at all to do with the change in ownership, but there has been a sudden, sharp increase in the number of sock puppet spam comments on Volvo posts.

The names are all imaginary Western, the IP addresses are spoofed to appear to be coming from India. And the links are to SEO blogs stuffed with Google ads and bullshit posts.

Hmm, looking into the details of the URL, volvo - xc70 dot com, it turns out to be one of several hundred car model-specific URLS owned by a Texas outfit called business intuition, llc, owned by a freelance programmer named Jeff Houpt. Who apparently has contracted with a shady comment spamming factory in China or India to jack his search engine placement. Nice work if you can get it, I guess.

Anyway, even though the links in comments are set to "no-follow," which largely excludes them from search engine spidering and gaming, there is still always the possibility that someone will click through to one of these online shitholes. So I routinely delete them. This post, I've left intact as an example, like a decapitated head on a stake on the road into town.

Haha very funny - look who is talking! Your blog is also filled with gibberish and bullshit, ADS, ads, ads and nothing else! And, you think trying to do a whois lookup makes you a smart guy?

And, do you think the other comments on your blog are very authentic? C'mon - if someone really wants to comment, they won't link to their site (like me) so that owner of the blog understands that they're not intended to game the search engines... By the way, today Indian bloggers have 70% of the market, and who gives a damn to the name or IP - you can use IP changer or proxy servers to manipulate them - so I don't get what point you're really trying to make!
