The NY Times has a primer on fetal sex selection technology so basic, it actually includes a definition of in vitro fertilization and the phrase, "because it is the sperm and not the egg that determines a baby’s sex."
But it barely touches on the realities of the cultures where picking embryos or pregnancies by gender is already prevalent: China, India, and the Upper East Side. A few more juicy anecdotes would've been really useful for the discussion at the next 2-yo birthday party.
